Feeding a betta fish is very much discussed in the internet today. Everyone is so curious how much to feed those Siamese fighting fish, what to feed them and yes, how to exactly feed a fish of great beauty, strength and independence.
These are very excellent questions because the answers to these questions are vital when it comes to maintenance of the happiness and life longevity of this small but aggressive little fish.
So in feeding a betta fish, how much can you feed to it? One problem that usually comes up with betta feeding is the usual overfeeding problem. Overfeeding a betta fish can lead to health problems for they can develop swim bladder disease. And although this can be cured, it will still manifest later on in your betta’s life. Betta fish are very tiny therefore, it can only be fed with small particles of food. The first time you took your betta home, you noticed that he was still young and growing,, therefore, it had a faster metabolism. But then again, you must always remember that it is still very tiny so its tummy can only hold so much. Another problem that overfeeding can bring is pollution which could also pose as a big problem later on to your betta fish’s health.
Feeding a betta fish with anything that is high in protein and fiber is good. Bettas are very picky when it comes to food and they can the tendency to become selective and snobs too. You offer them something they do not like and they will give you that really funny look as if telling you: You’ve got to be kidding me, honey!
You can feed your betta fish with a variety of healthy foods that are specifically meant for them. They love bloodworms that are frozen and also they would kill for frozen brine shrimps as well. You must make sure that your betta fish is fully aware that you are feeding it by dropping the food in front of his face. Betta fish are surface eaters, so they do not bother to eat anything that falls below them. This is due to the case that they have upturned mouths. You can also chop very tiny pieces of vegetables like corn, soy beans and any veggie that is high in protein.
Betta fish are very much admired and collected today. They are usually kept as aquarium pets due to their impressive colourful bodies and amazing fins Your betta fish is considered to be a labyrinth fish so it can survive in shallow water for as long as it is warm. These Siamese fighting fish are also known to be very vain and territorial. It is best that you keep it in a separate tank.
