Most children are very fascinated with flying objects such as kites, and to some extent, Superman. This is the reason why I am now obsessed with bird feeders, though I wouldn’t expect Superman to drop by.
There are a lot of factors that you can benefit from a bird feeder such as its craftsmanship that can help boost your lawn. But before I share the cutest bird feeders, I want to pen how to make a bird feeder because this is a wonderful bonding exercise with the children.
Making a bird feeder requires you to use different tools and can be built in several ways. The most popular bird feeder, and also the simplest to make is the cone feeder. What you do is get a pine cone and in its slits, you put in peanut butter and bird seeds. Use a string to tie it in your window. Your children and also you can stand by the window and wait for the birds to come by.
There’s another one for the garden using a single pack of milk carton. How to make a bird feeder this way: What you do is cut a portion of the carton and staple the top area. But my favorite is the breakfast feeder. What you do basically is to get some cookies, probably bake some of your own, place small holes for strings, brush it with margarine and sprinkle over bird seeds and hang it. Tie the strings on trees and plants. The problem with this feeder is that it attracts not only the birds but all kinds of cookie-loving animals including humans.
It is not easy to select the best bird feeder if you plan to purchase one because of the many variations that you can choose from. This can however be a bonding activity with your children as you can tag them along with you and let them choose the bird feeder that they like. But if it’s too tacky and you don’t want those odd looking things in the garden or the window, ask for a compromise. However if you select a bird feeder on your own, your children will always like it.
Off the bat, the cutest is the bitten apple with the bird seeds placed on the gap so that it looks like the bird is pecking at the apple. Another cute feeder is one where figurine birds are also pecking on the feeder so that when the bird comes, it would seem like it is part of the flock.
