Thinking Of Buying A Betta Fish?
Betta fish are one of the most widely favoured pets in the world. They are possibly the most aesthetically pleasing fish, which is why so many people are attracted to them and decide to buy them and keep them as pets; the only problem is that they require a lot more care and attention than almost any other type of pet fish.
This often puts people off buying a betta fish, however I don’t think it should. Betta fish are really quite simple to care for as long as you know how. Caring for your betta fish is very easy when you know how. As long as you follow the steps in this article, you will be on track to have a happy, healthy and fun betta fish!
Diet Plan
Feeding your betta fish regularly is an important step in making sure that your betta is healthy, just like many other pets. You need to make sure that you feed your betta the right amount of food, otherwise there is a good chance that the leftover food will grow bacteria, leading to your betta becoming ill.
Betta fish can eat a number of different foods, and varying their diet will help improve their lifespan. Something I always do, is ensure that I have planned my betta’s diet at least two weeks in advance so I know what I need to buy to keep my betta happy!
How to Maintain and Choose a Good Betta Tank
Your betta tank needs to be at least ten gallons in volume. Overcluttering your new tank with toys is not something that your betta will thank you for. A few toys is acceptable, however any more will cause stress to your betta. Do not put your betta fish in the tank before the pump and filter has had a chance to go through one cycle. 80 degrees Fahrenheit is the optimum temperature for your betta tank.
Can Betta Fish Share Tanks?
Avoid co-habitating your betta fish. Betta fish are also known as Siamese Fighting Fish, and for good reason too! Two betas will fight to the death if you put them in the same tank. Don’t be tempted to try it, the results are nearly always fatal.
The only exception to this rule is if you are breeding betta fish. Caution must be taken when breeding betta fish, because once they have finished breeding, the male will try to kill the female betta! This is the main reason why betta fish breeding is so hard.
It is essential that you master how to care for betta fish before you consider betta fish breeding. For more information on betta fish breeding then please visit our site.
